From the physical exhaustion of labor, the emotional exhaustion from the influx of hormones and mental exhaustion due to the lack of sleep it can be hard to care for yourself in even the most basic ways. It's important to meet your own needs while also meeting the needs of your baby.
Accepting the support of a postpartum doula is a wonderful tool in having a healing postpartum experience. Not only is it hard to care for your basic needs with all the exhaustion but your body has different needs during postpartum. Working with someone who is aware of what those needs are and who can offer multiple resources specific to you and what you are going through is setting yourself, your baby and your family up for success.
It takes 40 weeks to grow a baby, 40 days to recover from pregnancy and birth and the way you are able to recover results in the health of your next 40 years.
As a postpartum doula I will hold your hand and guide you through all of the unknowns, leaving you feeling prepared and supported. Your job is to be mama, love your baby and rest.
Not only am I here to support you in postpartum I am here to support you in parenthood.
Everyone plans for birth but never for postpartum. Birth is a very small portion of having a baby. Postpartum is the time that sets the rest of your parenting journey up for success. Having a clear plan, and understanding what to plan for is key in having a stress-free postpartum.

"I was looking for overnight care for my newborn son and luckily I was matched up with Barbara. Since this was my first time ever using help, I was anxious to have someone that could be patient and Barbara did not dissapoint. She was always prompt and communicative. Not only was she looking after my son, tending to his needs for feeding or changing, she was also someone I could talk to about my recovery. She even made me a lavender blend for a foot bath, which was so relaxing. At the end of every shift she will send me a log of my sons activties, which was very helpful. I would definitely recommend her to any families looking for some help."
